Not to make y’all too angry with me, but I have a) my shopping done, b) cookies baked & given and c) teacher/bus driver/mailman gifts packaged & either delivered or ready to go. We also walked through our town’s Winter Wonderland and Ava has met – and conversed with – Santa….  Several years ago, we Vic adopted the wonderful annual tradition of the Gingerbread House. This is a lengthy, messy process whereby anxious and impatient children try to put as many candies in their mouths as possible while Dad painstakingly works to assemble a highly-convoluted abode and outbuildings. Methinks he had last year’s extravaganza in mind…  I know it’s a little EARLY to talk about this, since most people <ahem> don’t even have their decorations out yet and are certainly not thinking about storing them. But my decorating life is SO MUCH EASIER this year I figured I’d get the ball (ornament?) rolling early. I love Christmas. Not Christmas MORNING so…  I love old things. A lot. It gives me such a happy little thrill when someone visits for the first time and tells me they love my style – because it’s basically just incorporating some old, well-loved items in with all of our newer, practical things. Although we’re very happy in Erie, one of the…  It’s always good for a marriage when you have common taste. It wouldn’t do – for instance – if one spouse was a contemporary minimalist while the other was a fan of gingham country with sunflower accents.
