Tyler at 8 Days: A Sneak Peek

I felt a kindred spirit in Lesley from the moment she e-mailed me from the hospital mere hours after giving birth to sweet Tyler. I love a woman who gets things done! A week later, and they were at my house so I could photograph their adorable baby boy.

We’ll start with a sweet little smile…

Dad and mom…

Mom loves creative shots, so we had some fun…And the backstory to some of these is funny. Mr. Tyler has <ahem> a bit of an appetite. So he went into the basket, decided he was hungry, had a snack, went back into the basket, and zzzzz…..

Then the same thing happened outside. He went into the bowl, said “Eh, I think I’d rather eat!” Had a snack, then Zzzz…..

Lesley and Chris, thank you again for such a great session. And especially Chris, who was SUCH a good sport when he got to serve as a human burp cloth! ;)

Monday Randoms…

• I had a 3rd session on Sunday morning with a family I just adore. Their elder daughter is just a bit older than Ava, so when we were trying to potty train, I asked for their advice (it worked!). Then when I was there this time, Reagan was into baby dolls…so guess what I bought Ava today? And she *loves* it! Thanks yet again, Shannon!!

• I preordered the new Canon 5D Mark ii last week. The video feature intrigues me. Not sure yet how I’ll use it, but we’ll see. I love my 5D so much, I can’t wait to see how awesome this new model is. Once I have it, my current 5D will be my backup, so I’ll be a 100% Canon shooter (my Nikon D200 will go…somewhere…).

• I tried Truvia this week, to try and kick my Splenda habit. The aftertaste is…blech. So Splenda it is!

• Ava and I went to Crate and Barrel this morning so I could get some stemless wine glasses and this very naughty basket jumped on the counter and insisted I buy it. I’m sorry, but I’m a sucker for a great basket to photograph kiddos in. The lady working in the store was VERY patient with me and went into the back to bring out 3 baskets so I could lie on the floor and see which was the most even. Heh. I’m just anal that way. I can’t put a 1 year old in a crooked basket!

• Today is the first day of AUTUMN. Yippee! I just love the fall. Growing up in New York, fall meant back to school and cool weather. After 9 years, the south is starting to beat it out of me, but just the thought of fall still makes me happy.

• I’ve been working on my new website (what?!? huh?!?!). I wanted larger images to show off my wonderful clients, and now I have one. I’ll announce when it’s live and ready. It’s been so much fun going through my client sessions pulling images for the galleries. I can’t believe how my babies have grown!!

• The new TV season starts tonight. THANK GOODNESS. I love the Big Bang Theory. Can’t wait!

• I LOVE these pants.

• And these jeans.

• Vic is building us a new kitchen table. I wanted a trestle, so he’s modeling it after this one from Cost Plus World Market:

He’s making the table and bench, and I’m going to buy some distressed black chairs to go with it. Yum!

And finally, since a post is no good without pictures, here are some recent collages and storyboards. Happy Autumn, everyone!

Arman at 1 Month: A Sneak Peek

Little Arman wins the award for the most gorgeous newborn hair EVER!

He was also quite fascinated with me. It must have been my witty banter! ;) Isn’t he just the most adorable little fella? Those eyes!

Seriously cute. And did he sleep? But of course!

Favorite? But of course!

Here he is with his wonderful dad and mama…

And this was fun - dad asked if we could pose him on their piano. And you all KNOW how I love incorporating things into the shots. Arman was a total sport, although I swear he’s looking at us like “Ummm…what am I doing here??”

To wrap things up, here’s a shot of the whole sweet family…

I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek: I’ll be in touch very soon with the rest of your session!

Taylor at 5 Weeks: A Sneak Peek

As a 5 week old, little Taylor came to me as an “older” newborn (I know it’s strange to call 5 weeks “old!”). As we all know, once our little babies are over two weeks, they sometimes <ahem> have a mind of their own and decide to act more like 3 month olds - meaning lots of eye contact and no sleeping.

But a full tummy…and some of my favorite tricks…and we get the best of both ages!

Hello sweetie…

Little Taylor was one of the most smiley little babies I’ve ever photographed. And it wasn’t gas (ha!) that brought them out - it was the sound of her mama’s voice. Awww….

Favorite? Oh yeah.

Hey there, bright eyes!

The whole lovely family…

We finished up outside with some of my props. We even tried out my new highchair…

Alex and Bob: Thank you so much for sharing your darling little girl with me. I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek, and I’ll have the rest of your session to you soon!
