Every year we say we probably won’t go the next year. And every next year…we go (yet again) to the Ellijay Apple Festival. We always assume it will be chilly, yet it’s too hot. We always eat something bad-ish for lunch, after laughing at the signs for fried pickles and twinkies. The kids go on the inflatable slides about 50 times (sand art for Aidan this year, since the cast kept him off the slides), and ride the “train” (tractor pulling several painted carts). Then we always have an apple dumpling (or two).
This year we did skip Burt’s Pumpkin farm, and instead went to Yahoo farm north of Canton (Ball Ground, Jasper?). We went through the corn maze, the kids got spider rings as a reward, then selected pumpkins before heading back home. 2009′s fall kick-off tradition? Complete.
