For the past 2 weeks, our life has been baseball – practice every night capped with a 5 game series. The Red team won the first two games…the Blue team won the 2nd two. Tonight is the final game, and sadly Dad was pulled away for work – but Ava and I will be there (in the horrible heat) cheering him on.

Here’s a little montage of Aidan pitching last night – his expressions crack me up. The boy takes this game SERIOUSLY. GO BLUE!!

Camera note: All of these were shot from my comfy chair on the sidelines, through the chainlink fence, using my 70-200 2.8 @ 3.5 or so on the Canon 5D.

This amazing quilt was handmade…love that!

Jacquie and Jason, thank you so much for bringing your sweet baby girl to me. Awake or asleep, she’s absolutely precious!

He wasn’t fussy…no, not at all. And he actually slept for about 5 minutes. But the rest of the time? He was convinced there was a party going on and he was NOT going to miss it!

See what I mean? Even when he was sleeping, he was thinking about the fun…with a smile on his face.

This is inside the shooting room (windows are behind where I’m standing). A comfy couch where my new parents can sit while I photograph their wee ones. The canvases on the wall are a 24×30 and two 16x24s.

And the armoire. For those who don’t know, Vic is a craftsman and his hobby is making fine furniture. How lucky am I?

When it came time to select something for my bowl/blanket storage, I showed him this, and asked for distressed black & a bit taller with no drawers, just shelves:

And he built this:

Perfection. It fits all of my blankets and favorite baskets & bowls. When my clients are here for their newborn session, we’ll be able to browse together to find just the right props!

Next up is the conversation area, which I can show you after he’s finished with this, which is downstairs being painted right now.

So how about a giveaway? This is one of my all-time favorite winter images, which hangs in my dining room – it’s so peaceful. I shot it back in December 2007 at my parents’ farm in Upstate New York and edited with a bit of grain and vintage touch.

The walls are painted.

Flooring is in.

It’s insured.

Relaxation area (rug, very cool old table, two leather club chairs) are in place.

Sofa has arrived (but is still in boxes…we’re getting there).

Blanket/Prop chest is built, painted and – what’s that I hear? – yes, being distressed as I write this.

Entertainment and Refreshment center to be built next. Which means probably this weekend.

Sweet newborns have been scheduled.

And there’s a sign for the door. So it must be official.

(fun tidbit: I love how this sign turned out so much that I’m going to add this product to my collage offerings next year as an alternative to framing!)

I first photographed Etta as a newborn, and I could not BELIEVE how she’d grown. Time really does fly. And Sam? Well he was just as much of a sweetheart as the first time we met. He’s so much fun to just sit with and chat (fyi: he was Optimus Prime for Halloween: very cool).
