Labor Day Weekend Randoms

I had the most delightful session yesterday with a 6 month old sweetie named Noah. Just wait until you meet him - adorable!!

While I was gone, Vic (and - reluctantly - Aidan) laid new sod in our backyard. We did the backyard a few years ago, but the bermuda never really took in the shady spots (we have a lot of trees). Our neighbors put in Zion Zoysia and we’ve been coveting ever since. So this weekend, that’s what he put in. Isn’t it lovely? Like a big fuzzy green carpet.

They’re putting out pine straw now to cover all the yuck in the woods. It’s going to be so great.

I’m keeping Ava occupied with a bucket of water and her new Littlest Pet Shop toys. They don’t have rubber clothes, which is a good thing.

She (inevitably) took a tumble off the retaining wall yesterday - it was bound to happen at some point. She’s a little scraped up, but Vic said it took her about 15 minutes and she was climbing back up again. Stinker.

So my online friends are trying to aid me in my quest to become more stylish and <ahem> girl-like. ;) I’ve never understood the shoe thing - how women love shoes. Me? Give me a nice comfy pair of Tevas and I’m all set for the summer. Flip flops, maybe a nice pair of Sketchers in the winter.

Part of the problem is my complete aversion to shopping - I know, I’m weird.

But I’m ready to turn into a girl, I think. So they linked me up with a bunch of suggestions and I headed out to DSW on Friday night (with Aidan in tow - he loved that) for some shoe shopping.

I bought these - by Privo (which are so amazingly comfortable!!)

And these:

(I wanted blue, but they were sold out of my size)

And another pair in a python (yes, python) print. Wheee - I’m getting crazy over here!

None of these are nearly as cute as the ones they linked me to from Piperlime, but it’s all baby steps, right?

Those of you who live in Cobb, have you been to the Lucy store at the Avenue East Cobb yet? Oh my - it’s glorious! I looove the Spa pants and the Everyday pants. They’re comfy (!) and look nice. What more could you ask for?

Last weekend we were craving Grouper sandwiches - Vic and I love them, and our local place just changed theirs on the menu to the “Fish Sandwich” (grumble, grumble). I googled and found out that one of my favorite little lunch places - The Fickle Pickle - has grouper on their dinner menu! Whoo! We took the kids and it was so great. We sat outside, Ava was free to run around (not really, but she’s reached that ‘won’t sit in her seat so we can’t go out to eat for another year’ stage), and the grouper sandwiches were amazing.

If you haven’t been there for dinner, I highly recommend it! I do love downtown Roswell.

I mentioned I took Aidan out with me on Friday night - that was nice. We couldn’t remember the last time we’d gone out without anyone else. We’ll have to do it again soon.

I think we’re going biking at Callaway Gardens tomorrow. Or hiking at Amicalola . I want to bike, but Vic says it’ll be cooler at Amicalola.

What am I doing while posting these random blog entries? Client DVD backups. They take quite a bit of time to run, so I’m filling my time with my lovely blog readers!

So what are you up to this weekend??

Gabrielle at 7 Days: A Sneak Peek

Welcome to the world, beautiful girl…

We had the most amazing, deep, moody light for this session - it kept raining on and off. It inspired me to pull out my black blanket for a few dramatic shots. She looks like she’s smiling, doesn’t she?

What’s that? A smile you say?

I love deep, shadowy light - it creates a beautiful sense of intimacy. I love this series with mommy…

Dad mentioned how much he loved Gabrielle’s little feet. Well who can blame him!?

We finished up the shoot by dashing in and out of the rain - and we used my new carriage!

Lee and Amanda: Thank you SO MUCH for such a wonderful session, for braving the rain, and for the good conversation! I’ll have the rest of your images to you soon! Enjoy that sweet baby girl…

Dylan at 6 Weeks: A Sneak Peek

I think one of the toughest parts of my job is picking the images for the sneak peek. I try to only pick a few, but I just can’t. So here we go again!!

Little Dylan here finally put one of my long-held ideals to rest: Shooting newborns in the first two weeks. I mean, it’s perfect when I can, but it’s not 100% necessary. I did warn mom that since little Dylan was older (isn’t it funny to call a 6 week old “older?”) that he might not sleep - so we’d go for fun shots typical of a 3 month old.

Then I got there…met this adorable little chunk of a guy…turned on my sound machine…and….zzzzzzz

He even gave me a little smile. All together now: “Awww……”

Hey there, bright eyes…

Those of you who’ve had sessions with me know I have a bit of a thing for chunky knuckle dimples…Likely because of my 100 pound 9 year old who is due home from school any minute…but I digress!

Favorite? Oh yeah…

With his beautiful mama…

And very fun dad…

And then we ran outside for some family & creative shots. We did use the bowl - but then we pulled out the bench I’d just bought for siblings. Dylan was *so* content and happy, we decided to give it a go!

What a sweet, happy little guy! Katherine and Ken, thank you *so* much for letting me photograph your sweet boy - and for being so willing to try out my new prop! I hope you’re happy with your sneak peek, and I’ll be in touch very soon with the rest of your session!

How did this happen?

My baby is three (3!!!) today.

(more later, but I’m behind on sneak peeks - adorable little sweetie who is NOT 3 coming up soon!)
