This made me smile…and cry a little…today.

I admit I’m a HUGE sap, but this is just wonderful…

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Since you <ahem> duck and run whenever the camera comes out, I don’t have a picture of you to post (which I’m sure will make you very happy), but you know who you are so it’s all good. :)

  • Thank you for always being there for me - even if I call you 5 times a day just to chat about nothing.
  • Thank you for being such an amazing Nana to my kids. Even though they don’t see you every day, whenever I say “Nana” they perk up and start yelling “I wanna talk!!! I wanna talk!!” - it’s quality, not quantity, you know? I’ll even forgive you for stocking your house with completely un-nutritional food items every time we visit (harumph!).
  • Thank you for putting up with Dad for 42 years. ;)
  • Thank you for taking in our little Lucy after Sadie passed away. I hope she doesn’t pee on your floor today.
  • Thank you for making me into a confident, opinionated (hmmm…) woman.
  • Thank you for passing along your strong arm gene - would it have killed you to keep the poochy stomach and maybe give me your skinny legs instead?
  • Thank you for your potato salad recipe. Enough said.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday filled with club sandwiches and custard from Marcella’s. :) Your gift is in the mail. If it came on time, you’d be so shocked you might fall out of your chair and hit your head or something. And we wouldn’t want THAT. So look for it on Wednesday. ;)

Layla @ 3 Months: A Sneak Peek

Meet sweet little Layla, who has quite the arsenal of adorable expressions:

You think she was sick of me already? Her face here cracks me UP!

Check out missy’s awesome bedroom. Stripes? Painted by her mama.

After some early smiles and cheerful moments, miss Layla decided she was a bit tired and cranky. And her sweet parents knew JUST what would make her happy. The vacuum cleaner. They quickly leaned it against the wall, turned it on, and bliss reigned.

THEN I remembered I had my white noise machine in the car for my newborn session the next day. I brought that puppy in and…A FAVORITE for sure!

With her beautiful mama. Nilam has the most stunning eyes!

And the whole family. The golf course is in their backyard. Dad says if anyone needs golf balls, he’s got ‘em. HA!

Nilam and Mike: I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek, and I’ll be in touch soon with your full session!

So did you watch it last night?

(anyone with a child between the ages of oh….6 and oh….15 or so will know exactly what I’m talking about)

What did you think?

Bad acting? Yes.

Treacle? Yes.

Did I shed a tear? Yes (please, are you surprised?).

Did I do the math in my head and realize those kids could easily be MY kids? Yes (and then quickly stomped that thought outta my head).

Did I have several 80s flashbacks because of Joe’s outfits? Oh yes.

Did I covet Demi Lovato’s hair for 2 hours? Definitely.

Overall it was ok. It wasn’t any Sooner or Later, if you know what I mean. But I enjoyed watching it with Aidan (who somehow knew the words to every song even before the dang thing had aired?).
