A sneak peek for the ‘R’ family!

I love 3 month olds. They’re so happy…so curious. BIG sparkly eyes.

Oh, very much like little miss C:

Could you just eat her UP? Look at those cheeks!!! Precious.

I also love 4 year old big brothers. Adorable, sweet, love to show you their very fancy play kitchen, think Fig Newtons (Strawberry, please) are the BEST snack ever, and are easily amused by anything their Daddy does behind my shoulder.

Oh, very much like Mr. W:

And put them together?

(remember the other day when I mentioned that sometimes I get a little teary when I open my images after a shoot? <ahem> Sniff.)

Here’s Miss C with her lovely mommy:

And I usually do this pose with Mommies, but when the opportunity arose to have Daddy get in there for some snuggles…awww…

Oh look! Tootsies (you know I love the baby tootsies):

And the whole gorgeous family:

S & R, I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek! Give those sweet kiddos a hug and I’ll be in touch very soon with the rest of your images!

A sneak for D & J…

I first met little ‘P’ when he was still inside his mommy’s tummy. The next time I met him, he was an adorable little newborn:

(’P’ was also the baby-in-a-basket who won my contest this winter!).

Well this weekend I got to visit with him again. And look how he’s grown!

Ok, the hair. Is it not the CUTEST thing ever?? Oh my goodness, going through these images my face hurt from smiling. ‘P’ was happy and smiling the entire session. Even when he wasn’t too happy about sitting his little naked bottom on the chilly floor.

I loved this big old heavy mirror during our other sessions - we got to use it this time. Want to make a baby happy? Let them talk to their reflection!

Look at this expression:

Adorable.

And here he is with his beautiful momma:

Wanna know what makes him laugh? Rubbing your hands together. Too funny!

Remember my antique wagon? Well, Mr. P’s momma wrote to tell me she could picture a pretty girl in a dress sitting in it. I wrote back that I pictured a sweet little boy in denim. So it’s ONLY fitting that the first sweet little one to be photographed in it was…

Oh yeah!

(funny aside: in typical boy fashion, right after this shot, P decided that handle looked pretty yummy to munch on - so we had to put it down. lol)

LOVE!!! The hair, the cheeks, the browns, the greens, the little elbow dimple…sigh…

D, I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek! You can go to bed now. HA! I’ll be in touch soon with the rest!

My job makes me cry.

I’ll admit: I cry watching Hallmark commercials. I do. I’m a sap. Those Publix commercials at Thanksgiving? Oh dear. If there’s a sweet moment in a comedy movie, you can bet I’ll be reaching for the tissues. And you don’t even want to be in the room with me when The Notebook is on TV - at least not without a boat and paddle.

But I have to tell you: After a session, when I get home and start downloading files? It’s like Christmas morning for me. Like opening a present. During the action of a session, I know what I’m shooting - what my goal is. But I don’t know for SURE that I got it until I get home.

And 9 times out of 10 (ok, maybe 10 times out of 10)? I cry. Not sad tears, but happy ones. I laugh a bit. I giggle. I tear up when I see THAT shot that I know mom wanted. And it’s perfect.

My job makes me cry. And I love it.

A princess tea party…

At a session recently, one of my clients asked if I take hundreds of pictures of my kids. Honestly - and I’ll bet most photographers would say this - no, I don’t. Not enough. Not as many as I should. So I’m making an effort to keep the camera out whenever I can. To try and capture those little moments. Because you know what? The portraits I do have hanging on my walls make me blissfully happy.

I will say that when Ava sees the camera, she tends to turn on the cheese. And will actually SAY “cheese!” I have no clue where she got that from, because it certainly wasn’t from me. So catching her in candid moments is tough.

On this particular morning, I was sitting at my desk getting ready to leave for a session and I heard her playing behind me. I quietly grabbed my camera and snuck behind the chair, then peeked over the top and got these. She’s not looking at me…she’s not smiling at me…but they’re so HER. Talking to herself, hair in her face, chubby little cheeks. And I can’t wait to hang this one on her bedroom wall.
