How about a sneak peek?

This couple.

What can I say?

Well, first off, they didn’t kick me out when - 5 minutes after I arrived - I <ahem, cough, cough> mentioned that if the GORGEOUS antique dough bowl they had on their kitchen table suddenly turned up missing? I know NOTHING about it.

Not only that, J got on the internet and found the place where they got theirs. A place that Ava and I visited this morning so I could acquire my very OWN antique Hungarian dough bowl. Into which a babe will be placed for photos this weekend.

Oh goodness, where was I?

I think my point was that I have the most amazing clients. And these two were no exception. Loving, fun, open for anything. Told me to have the run of their house and use anything and everything I wanted. Gotta love that!

We started in the baby’s room. Not everyone has the baby’s room decorated when I do their maternity shoot, so I was thrilled to see this one. I’m guessing the baby’s a girl. ;)

I cannot WAIT to take the exact same picture with the wee babe in her arms. Sigh…Love that chair!

Next up was this AMAZING little alcove! I do believe I actually squealed when I saw it. J had to move boxes…and K had to climb in. But I do think it was worth it! Dough Bowl + Baby + Alcove window. Oh I can’t wait!

Harrisalcove_2

These two are beyond sweet. Funny, loving. That’s one lucky little baby.

Any faithful blog readers who suffer from a bit of ‘eyelash envy’ might want to look away for a sec.

K is absoutely stunning. I love how mamas-to-be glow so beautifully.

We took a bunch in this series, and this was a favorite of mine. I love how K is looking at me while J is looking at their hands.

Their doggy didn’t have much interest in me until I started calling “Frisbee!” to him. That’s not his name, just a favorite activity. My mom’s going to yell at me for teasing him. Sorry mom!

Harrisdog_2

Her eyes really are this blue.

Harriseyes_2

When I saw this fence in their backyard? Yeah, I’m pretty sure I squealed with glee again. I do love a good fence.

Harriswall_2

I love this one.

Lest you think we didn’t let J be the star at all…

Harristogether_2

Another instant favorite. Love this couple!

K & J: Thank you again for letting me photograph this most precious time in your lives. I’ll be in touch with the rest of your images soon!

Instant calm and happiness…

As soon as this first page opens, I feel this tingly sensation of happiness and organized calm take over…

Russell + Hazel

I NEED a signature lime green binder.

Lime_binder_2

I mean, I guess NEED is a relative term. But I have a slim and it’s not wide enough. And I think $20 is a small price to pay for something that will make me happy every time I use it, right?

I’m just a blogging fool today, aren’t I?

Vic painted our white mantel this weekend - it’s now a gorgeous distressed black to match the island he built. I’ll take pics once it’s properly decorated.

I then realized the small fruit pics I had to the right of it were not sufficient. The space was crying out for a couple of 16×20s of the kids. I’d have gone larger, but the space wasn’t big enough, alas.

I had an image of Ava already set aside (this one):

Ava16x20

But needed one of Aidan. Let me just say I am SO GLAD my photographer’s kid has finally gotten over the camera phobia. Whether it’s because he’s 8 - or because he knows if he doesn’t make normal faces that it’ll be TWO pictures of Ava up there - I’ll never know. But I did get this:

Aidan16x20

Handsome devil. I can’t wait to get them up on the wall. :)

Ava did get 3 shots this morning, but survived with flying colors. One of the shots, however, seems to have turned her into a boy. At dinner tonight she kept taking mouthfuls of food and spitting them all over herself. Hmmm……

In other (more domestic news), I thought I would share my solution to the dreaded “junk drawer.”

I do think every home should have one or two, but I had about 10. And - while I knew where everything was - whether it was in the top right drawer in the kitchen by the fridge…or the top left drawer in the hutch in the living room…or the middle drawer in the buffet in the dining room…NOBODY else did. So whenever anyone was looking for something? “Mooommmmm!?!?!?”

I feel a collective nodding of the head by all the moms out there.

So on Sunday afternoon, I emptied ALL our junk drawers onto the living room floor and let Aidan sort them.

Now, before you think I’m cruel, you must understand that the poor boy inherited his mother’s OCD. Which means that - for him - getting to sort stuff is akin to a trip to Disney. Well, maybe not Disney, but at LEAST the park. At least.

Then I pulled out all my Iris drawers (that used to…ahem…store scrapbooking supplies), plopped them in the pantry, and every bit of “junk” got its own drawer.

Power Supplies (for the iPod, camera, Gameboy, Nintendo, etc. chargers that multiply like rabbits)
Staplers (why we have 5 staplers is beyond me, but we do)
Tape (adhesives, tape, packing tape, etc.)
Velcro and Pads (furniture pads & velcro)
Extra Pens & Pencils
Playing Cards & Candles
Glue
Remote Controls (!)
Band-Aids (coming soon)
Keys and picture hangers (does anyone else have 5,000 keys that you have NO idea what they’re for?)

Ahhh….

I then let Aidan have his icing on the cake by giving him the label maker to use. Yes, I see there are typos, but I’ve promised myself I will leave them for at LEAST a week before correcting them. Or at least 3 days. Or 4.

Now…my junk drawer days are over. Whenever anyone asks? “It’s in the pantry!”

I just had to share it. It’s as if Fenway’s posing for me, isn’t it? Cute puppy.
