They’re just born that way…
Wednesday | June 20th | 2007 – 9:55 pm
Having a child of each gender, it’s become so obvious to me that boys & girls are just BORN with certain likes and dislikes. Certain behaviors, if you will.
Example:
Ava dragged out my tutu today and insisted (no really, she did) that I put it on her. The second I put it on, she started twirling and going “wheee! wheee! wheee!”
She kept twirling until she fell down. Then got up and did it again.
(and yeah, I know this isn’t exactly a prime example of my photography skills, but I wanted to catch her before she stopped, and I had my mommy love goggles firmly planted on my face, and, and…but the ones in the background look SWEET, no?)
She also loves it when I comb her hair and she CANNOT pass by a pair of shoes without trying them on for size. Girlfriend LOVES shoes. I think we’re in trouble there.
Oh, and she’s a priss. Look at her eating ice cream:
There is a PERFECTLY fine scoop of strawberry there, and she’s more concerned with the DRIP on her shorts. She cannot stand to have stuff on her. If I give her a wipe, she’ll even clean her face. The apple doesn’t fall far, it seems.
“EGADS, I detect a drip on my face!!” Just look at the concern furrowing her brow:
This one cracks me up - look how far over she’s leaning to eat her ice cream so it doesn’t drip on her. With her hand held out away from her body:
At the other end of the spectrum is Aidan, who would happily go an entire week with chocolate smeared from one ear to the other, has no interest in shoes beyond wanting to wear flip flops every day so he doesn’t have to TIE anything and - to my knowledge - does not twirl.
I had some lovely clients over tonight who are expecting a little boy in a few short weeks. I told them boys are SO great - they sure do love their mommas. And then they turn 6 and all they want to talk about is poop, boogers and farts. Oh, and Pokemon.
I sure do know how to make a good impression, don’t I? I did also serve cookies. Milanos. Yum.
OH - did I tell you Ava officially has a name for Aidan? Dubby. Yup, Dubby. Not sure how she came to that - Aidan/Dubby…Brother/Dubby…But it’s *really* cute, so we’re good with it.
In other news, I’ve been working on adding to my gallery in the living room:
I decided to add in a couple of non-photo items. I think it balances out quite nicely! I actually like sitting in that room now. Funny how a pretty wall full of photos will do that to you.
Also - HELLO again to everyone who posted yesterday!! See, that wasn’t so hard now, was it?!? You don’t have to post every day, but give me a shout-out every once in awhile!
I think I wrote everyone back, but if I missed you, it wasn’t on purpose. I’ll just catch you next time!
