a milestone and a new favorite

My Etsy shop reached 700 sales this morning. That’s not counting the sales on my own website, Fine Art America and any wholesale opportunities – that’s just Etsy. With the thousands of photographers who sell there, that news was pretty darned exciting for me. It means 700 people liked my work enough to spend their hard-earned money to have it for themselves.

And I thank you. Thank you for letting me do something I love – and continue to just love more and more – and share it. Pretty cool, y’all.:)I know many of you have been with me through my scrapbooking years and again for the years I had my portrait business. But this is my true love. Nothing thrills me more than finding something beautiful through my lens and spending 10 minutes to find JUST the right angle, just the right shot.

—————-

With that thought in mind, during our trip to New York City over the holidays, my wonderfully patient and supportive husband (and tolerant children) made time for us to walk through Central Park, one of my favorite locations (obviously). I’d always wanted a photograph of the tunnel under Bethesda Terrace and I got one – ONE – shot.

I framed the shot (in perfect morning light) and waited (it was freezing) for one very slow-walking gentleman to exit (hurry up!). As soon as he passed me I heard a large group of students entering behind me. So I took my one shot and it was exactly what I wanted. The thrill of the hunt, the joy of the capture.

In other news, as I edit new pieces I’m finishing them in both color and black and white. Why? I find most people love color, but black and white is my favorite. I’ve added a separate black and white section in both my online shop and my Etsy shop. As time allows, I’ll be editing and adding older pieces as well.

I can’t wait to find a place for this piece in my new house.
