Happy Mother’s Day to all the Future Mothers

One of the wonderful joys I find in my job is meeting so many miracles. Yes, every baby is a gift, but some babies truly are miracles (including my two). And after suffering through the pain of infertility, I know there are so many miracles out there waiting to happen.

On this Mother’s Day, my thoughts are with all of the women who are not yet mothers…who want to be a mother more than ANYTHING in the world.

Women for whom this day is only slightly less painful than Christmas. Slightly more painful than Halloween or Valentine’s Day. Because every holiday takes on a different meaning when you’re suffering through infertility.

I’m thinking of you. I walked in your shoes, and I know how hard it is.  But hang in there…don’t forget who you are…don’t lose yourself.
Here is a wonderful video by Keiko Zoll. It made me cry…a lot. And then it made me feel hopeful.

If you’re so inclined, and would like to help all of those future mothers, please support the cause of insurance coverage for infertility. When you consider all of the things that are covered…helping women become mothers should be a no-brainer.

Sam - Thank you for this post, Lisa. It’s always good to know of another story with a happy ending. Wishing you a wonderful day today.

Steph H - Writing through tears, Lisa, to thank you for this post. Today is the first Mother’s Day that I can hold my sweet boy in my arms instead of wondering if anyone would ever call me Mama. The feeling is amazing, but the hurt of all those years is still there, as is the hope for my friends who are still struggling down the road.

Fidgeting Gidget - Thank you so much for posting this, Lisa. It’s a rough day for all of us who have suffered miscarriages or losses of other sorts and have been unable to conceive again. I’m so glad you finally got your little blessings and I appreciate your sentiments towards those of us who are still waiting and praying for our turns.

berta - Thanks for posting this Lisa. I have followed your story here and on your scrapbook pages and know you were finally blessed with two sweet children. But many women never know the joy of being a mom. This is a wonderful video, thank you for sharing. I have three sons and was blessed to become pregnant with only a few infertility treatments. And my 3rd was a total surprise, that my Dr. said could not be possible.
