finally.

They’re my absolute favorite flowers. Hydrangeas remind me of springtime, weddings, and pretty girls in dresses. Even though they’re a different bloom, they remind me of the lilacs that grew outside the kitchen door of the house I grew up in. I miss that lilac bush.

The colors are so delicate – the way the green/ivory centers transition into beautiful shades of blue, pink or purple.

As mine were starting to bloom in ’08, we were hit by a hard late spring frost that burned them. Nothing that year.

In ’09…nothing. I think they were still recovering.

But this year? They’re back. And they make me happy every day.

Carrie Colbert - Gorgeous, Lisa!! Those flowers are always so beautiful that they don’t even seem real. :)

Jen - Thanks, Lisa! This post made my day! Blue hydrangeas have always been my favorite flower. Unfortunately, it’s way too hot in south Florida for them to grow. Today, I’m living vicariously through you. That second shot is absolutely to die for…perfection!

berta - Beautiful! I love hydrangeas, especially the beautiful blue/purple shades. Thanks for sharing as mine won’t be in blossom for at least a month.

Gloria Nobles - Lisa, these are absolutely gorgeous! I would love to be able to walk outside and look at these! Love that color too.

Cynthia McIntyre - Mine have not bloomed for about 3 years. This is the first year they have buds! I am so excited because I too love hydrangeas, especially blue ones. Thanks for the gorgeous photographs!
