a stroll down memory lane…

When my love for photography began almost 20 years ago, I was in my early 20s with no desire for children (yet), and my focus was fine art landscapes. Rock walls, old barns, doorways, trees, fences. If someone had told me then that I would find my life’s true passion in photographing babies and children…well, I won’t say I would have laughed at them (but yes, I probably would have laughed at them).

Here we are, 20 years later. Those who have known me for a long time know that parenthood didn’t come easy for us. But years of infertility and two miracle children taught me exactly what a blessing babies are. How amazing. How perfect.

And oh how I love to photograph them! In 2006 I turned my camera to these tiny little darlings and never looked back. Wee eyelashes…and toes…and cheeks. A hint of a gassy smile. Flaky feet. Downy hair on their ears and backs. The coos they make when they settle in and get comfortable. The devotion of a new mother and father.

I’m so happy to present this slideshow celebrating all of the babies I photographed in 2009. Thank you to all of the parents who shared them with me.
