Is there any better way to start the new year than with a sweet newborn? I think not!
Meet adorable little Ellis, all of 13 days old:

Mom specifically requested shots that captured their love for their little guy. I think we succeeded!

Mom also brought along her childhood radio flyer wagon – which had been lovingly restored for little Ellis. You all KNOW I can’t resist a wagon!

Jaime and Eric: Thank you so very much for sharing your little sweetheart with me. It was a pleasure and the perfect way to kick off the new year!
(A note to the photographers who read the blog: With the exception of the macro image (#2), all images were shot with the new Canon 5D Mark ii.)

Christie Yencho - Jaime & Eric,
What a beautiful boy! Congratulations to you and to both set of grandparents. It is wonderful to be able to watch our “babies” having babies. Love to you all
michele - so, i have to ask … my pix with the mark II tends to have blown out highlights, regardless of the settings i use and the mode. is the sensor just so overly advanced from my 20d that i’m too heavy-handed with it? how do you meter with yours to keep the skin from being too “hot”?
*** Lisa *** - John, you betcha we do! We got it all with sweet little Ellis!
Michele – I found out very quickly in practice with the 5Dii that the meter is *way* more accurate than the one in the 5D (and I assume the 20d). Whereas with the 5D I always had to overexpose by a stop or two, with the 5Dii it resulted in blown shots – so I’m metering dead-on, rather than over. Do you have your display set to show the blown highlights and histogram? If not, change it – I don’t even look at the image when I chimp, I’m looking at the histogram to see how the exposure looks. HTH!
Karen Greenblat - WOW! Those are too beautiful!! You all look amazing……..what a beautiful family.
