What a week.
Monday: Noticed Lulu had a bit of a rash on her tummy.
Tuesday: Noticed rash was HORRIBLE, took Lulu to the vet – where she stayed until 7:00 that night. The vet’s first words when she called me? “Oh. My. Goodness.” Not good.
Prognosis: Acute respiratory infection (likely caught from Annie). Acute allergic reaction (to who knows what). And an eye ulcer – because what the heck, right? Might as well get it ALL.
Medications? Seven. Two antibiotics. Two antacids to prevent stomach ulcers from the antibiotics. Benadryl. Steroid spray. Eye drops. I had to make myself a chart.
Thursday: I completely miss an afternoon party at my friend Paige’s house. Which I NEED.
Saturday: Lulu is better (phew). Meds continue. Annie now has worms (nice). Got more wormer for her.
Annie discovers she can get out of the fence, and escapes three times. In the rain. We seriously contemplate returning her to the shelter (waah) because I just don’t have time to chase a dog down 10 times.
Sunday: Vic (gotta love him) fixes the holes in the fence so the kids can keep their doggy. Annie shows her undying gratitude by <ahem> releasing her <ahem> now-not-worm-infested leavings in several rooms of the house. Thank goodness for the Bissell, is all I’m saying.
Ava and I do a bit of shopping in the afternoon, and I fit into size 8 jeans. Which I haven’t worn since before I had kids. Giddy enough to forget everything else.
Monday: All is well. For now. My kids might not get to go to college, but the vet’s kids will, so it’s a wash!

Diane - Oh dear! As a mom of two humans and two furry loves, you have all the empathy a girl can muster! Happy Monday and here’s to a much better week!
=) Diane
Alisha Robertson - Ah yes, I remember those days… make me not miss dog ownership so much. LOL! Glad everyone is better. And WOO HOO on size 8 jeans.
Bridget =) - Oh my, while I love your photography, i miss these posts of YOU. =) (Reminds me to ask, any good book recommendations lately???).
And WOO HOOOOOOOOO on the jeans! are you still doing WW??? I need some inspiration! I’d love to see some of your weekly menus, or at least some meal ideas… i feel like everything is same ol, same ol, and my eyes (and hands) keep wandering over to the leftover halloween candy! =(
Frost Osborne - I love your sense of humor…we are going to get along great. We have a 1-yr old boy and a 6-month old puppy, as well as an older dog and a cat, so I can empathize with the chaos and vet bills both. I’m really excited about tomorrow’s session with our son!
Julia - Thank you for not making me feel so alone in the doggy/vet world. Our incident about a month ago was pretty darn similar to this. But what can we say, we love the 4-legged kid. She was at the groomer Saturday (getting a $53 haircut – even I don’t get a haircut that costs that much!), and we saw the animal shelter pet adoptions. There was a large white dog there, obviously a bit older and sweet as can be. They said that was her last time there and if she wasn’t adopted that day she would be put down. I thought about her all day, but we just can’t do it. I keep hoping she found a home. Annie is lucky to have found you, and I bet she knows that too.
becky - so be there done that with the dogs. Glad they are all healthy again. Congratulations on the size 8. That rocks.
Shaun Paddock - I hope they offer doggy insurance! Congrats on the size 8 jeans!!!!!!! You should be very proud of yourself. I am very impressed. I would give anything to lose the 80 lbs I gained from Chemo 2 years ago. I went from a size 8 to a 16 in three weeks. Oh well, all in due time.
Any photos of your darlings from Halloween?
Have a groovy week!
Shaun
