Happy Birthday, Mom!

Since you <ahem> duck and run whenever the camera comes out, I don’t have a picture of you to post (which I’m sure will make you very happy), but you know who you are so it’s all good.

• Thank you for always being there for me – even if I call you 5 times a day just to chat about nothing.

• Thank you for being such an amazing Nana to my kids. Even though they don’t see you every day, whenever I say “Nana” they perk up and start yelling “I wanna talk!!! I wanna talk!!” – it’s quality, not quantity, you know? I’ll even forgive you for stocking your house with completely un-nutritional food items every time we visit (harumph!).

• Thank you for putting up with Dad for 42 years.

• Thank you for taking in our little Lucy after Sadie passed away. I hope she doesn’t pee on your floor today.

• Thank you for making me into a confident, opinionated (hmmm…) woman.

• Thank you for passing along your strong arm gene – would it have killed you to keep the poochy stomach and maybe give me your skinny legs instead?

• Thank you for your potato salad recipe. Enough said.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday filled with club sandwiches and custard from Marcella’s.Your gift is in the mail. If it came on time, you’d be so shocked you might fall out of your chair and hit your head or something. And we wouldn’t want THAT. So look for it on Wednesday.
