Ava and I had a little time to kill after the gym this morning, so we took a trip to my favorite little antique market in Woodstock. The same place I found my wagon and chair.
And what treasures did I find? First up, this awesome crate:

How CUTE is that?? I’d been looking for a crate for some time to put my sitting babies in – and apparently my 2 1/2 year olds also! But do you know how hard it is to find a crate that doesn’t have wine, whiskey or ammunition logos on the side? Pretty close to impossible. Apparently the only things transported in these types of boxes were baby-inappropriate items.
Until now! Who doesn’t didn’t love Hires Root Beer? Do they still make Hires? Hmmm…Am I showing my age again? Probably.
Next up? This little gem:

Ummm…how AMAZING is this little beauty? Now picture it with a chubby 3 or 6 month old baby bottom sitting on it. Oh yeah, baby!
I’m not a huge prop person, and I don’t love things that are obvious – it has to be something really special for me to want to use it in a shot. So I wasn’t searching for a scale before now. And all the scales out there are FOR babies, and even if they’re antique, well that’s just not cool enough for me. It can’t be that obvious.
But a beat up, rusted silver and white antique INDUSTRIAL scale? Now that’s cool. And I cannot wait to get a chubby baby bottom upon it!

dawn - i love your finds! can’t wait to see them in action. =)
Sharyn - I have an old Hanson scale too…I actually had to get out of my seat here to see if it was the same one, but mines just a little different. I bought it for the same reason – so fun!!
maya - Those are some really nice finds! I’m looking forward to seeing them in your photos.
Shaun - Lisa, Great finds and Ava looks adorable! Yes, they still make Hires. Hires started in Salt Lake City, where we moved from. They have a few restaurants called Hires. You can sit inside or stay in your car and the server comes to your car. It is so cool and the rootbeer is served in frosted mugs! Yummy!
Do you sell gift certificates for portraits? I am thinking of asking for one for Mother’s day so we can have a family photo done. I did not realize how close my step daughter is to you. She lives in Kennasaw and we were there this past weekend. My daughter and I went to Archiver’s in Marietta. Let me know about the gift card when you get a free minute.

Allison Thompson - Lisa, I love your blog! Couldn’t resist sharing this comment with you….My three year old little boy saw the picture of Ava in the root beer box and said, “That’s my girlfriend.” Too cute! He certainly has great taste!
berta - Cool new props, can’t wait to see the first little one on the scale! Miss Ava looks right at home in the root beer box!
