(Almost as) much as I love books, I love great music.
I recently organized my gazillion iTunes songs into playlists, and this afternoon and evening we were enchanted by my folk music list.
These artists might not all be considered "folk" but it was amazing how seamlessly the songs blended (I, of course, had the iPod on shuffle). When I went to turn it off, Aidan screeched "Nooo! Leave it on!" If you have rowdy kids (as so many of us do), put a little blend like this on and all is calm and good in the world.
These are the artists in my folk mix, in case you’d like to create a little blend of your own. I’m not much of a single song person – If I like one, I buy the whole album.
Allison Krauss (with and without Union Station – Several Albums)
Amy Seeley (who I discovered via Jesh de Rox – Trees are Back)
Clannad (more New Age, but it mixes well – Anam and Banba)
Gordon Lightfoot (I love me some Gord’s Gold)
Indigo Girls (naturally – all their albums)
M. Ward (Transistor Radio)
Nick Drake (Way to Blue)
David Gray (Life in Slow Motion + A New Day at Midnight + White Ladder)
The Weepies (Say I Am You + Happiness)
Vonda Shepard (It’s Good, Eve)
Ryan Adams (Easy Tiger + Follow the Lights)
Enjoy!
P.S. Last night we had a little dance party to the oldies and swing. The 4 of us well, 3 of us and Vic watched from the couch danced and jived and twisted for about an hour. So fun.
