Have you ever had a day that – when it was over – you thought to yourself "That was just perfect."?
For me, Saturday was such a day.
It began with a maternity session with the most wonderful couple – R & J. They have this amazing old house with a cool shed, fence, yard…and windowsills! We had so much fun. I’ll share a few tomorrow!
In the afternoon, we took Aidan and Ava to Piedmont Park. I’ve wanted to take them ever since we visited the old 60s playground during the one day – two ways workshop. We’ve lived here since ’99 and had never been. Shameful!
Anyhoo – the playground was a huge hit. It has this big pebble-covered mound for little ones to crawl up:
It also has these funky blocks for climbing on and the *best* swingset – with LONG swings. You know what I’m talking about?
The best thing is this huge aluminum (fast!) slide. Plastic slides just don’t compare, you know?
There are two tall slides on either end, with a short slide in the middle.
Once Ava saw Aidan go down the big slide, guess where she headed?
I’ll remind you – Aidan didn’t walk until he was 17 months. He didn’t climb until he was like…I dunno…SIX?
Ava (with Vic right behind her) headed straight up the tall ladder.
And repeated it about 10 times.
I think I sprouted 50 more grey hairs.
With the kids sufficiently exhausted, we headed for Front Page News near Little Five Points.
For some reason, we lack outdoor eating venues up here in the ‘burbs. It was awesome. I think I had the best Chicken Philly I’ve ever had.
Perfect day. I can’t wait to go back !

In other news…I’m not a big shopper. I HATE to shop, in fact.
But I truly believe that things that make you happy – that bring you joy every time you see them – are worth the splurge.
So I visited Williams-Sonoma last week and this came home with me:

It’s a Peugot Pepper Mill. In red. Which is actually the EXACT shade of burgundy I have as the accent color in my kitchen. I love it. I love to cook, and things like this make me very happy indeed. Isn’t it beautiful? The curves, the sheen, the little knob on the top with ‘P’ on it. Vic was not nearly as excited as I was. Harumph.
I didn’t get the salt mill, but methinks a return trip to W-S might be in order.
I’m also craving with every pathetic bone in my body this:

The Le Creuset 6 3/4 Quart Dutch Oven. I feel like it should have its’ own soundtrack. Something like "Ahhhhh…. Dun DUN!" I know it would make me happy every time I used it. I must have one someday. I believe I have a wedding anniversary coming up…13, maybe? Is the 13th anniversary cast iron cookware?

After leaving W-S, I visited the Pottery Barn next door (naturally). I’ll preface by saying I am NOT normally a PB shopper. Being married to a guy who can craft hardwood furniture in his sleep kinda dulls the PB appeal.
But then I found THIS near the checkouts:
I LOVE easels. I cannot resist them. I think they are so perfect to display desk portraits.
This one? On CLEARANCE for $19.99. I’m really wishing I’d gotten two…or three. If you live near the Avenue East Cobb PB, don’t buy them all, ok?![]()

Speaking of pictures, Saratoga Frame Company has a new frame. Chocolate brown. Is it gorgeous or what?
I think it would look so lovely in a room with lots of dark wood furniture. With earthy, outdoor photos.

I just finished this book:

I’ve read all of Kathy Reichs’ Tempe Brennan books, but this one was – by far – her best. I couldn’t stand to put it down! I’m so happy her books have gotten better, unlike some other author I know (cough…Patricia Cornwell…cough…cough…).

That’s it for today. I’m off to a little birthday dinner for my friend Paige. Ladies’ nights out are ALWAYS a good thing.
Happy Tuesday!
