This would never happen to me – as my picture appears next to the word ‘Tomboy‘ in the encyclopedia – but by way of analogy: Did you ever spend two hours getting all dressed up for a party, only to put on your shoes and they just.don’t.go?
What to do? Well, trash the whole outfit OF COURSE and find one that matches the SHOES. Duh!
So the other day I was looking around for a new text font – I’m nothing if not anal about my fonts, and apparently none of the 2600 I have already would work (that’s no exaggeration, I have 2600 fonts). I stumbled across the one you see in my logo (title, links, menus, etc.). The clouds parted, Angels sang, I swooned, drooled, and fell madly in love. LOVE, I tell you.
(Attention designers: if said font is the design equivalent of papyrus, comic sans or curlz, you just SHHH! I don’t want to hear about it.)
I showed my friends, who informed me that ya, it was cool – but it did NOT go with my blog design. And while they were at it, my flourish-y branding was GREAT with my newborn work, all pretty and delicate and whatnot, but it sorta didn’t really go with my fine art work.
What to do? Redesign the whole dang thing to go with the FONT. Duh!
I kept very little, changed a lot. A little less girl, a little more grunge. A little less traditional, a little more funky.
If something doesn’t look right on your screen, let me know, mmmkay? Thx!

LOVE it. It’s way more “you”!
Of course I love it. because I had to get the same font. and if I could design websites as well as you I’d totally redo mine, too!
(but you must let me know the sub-type font…)
2600 fonts? I would be lost in indecision
I like the new one!
Love the new look!
I truly believe there is no such thing as too many fonts or too many cloth dishtowels. =D
Oh, and the new design is perfect!

I added this recipe to Paprika the day Kate at Centsational Girl first posted it.
I made them on Sunday while watching football (very easy to do, the recipe is quite simple).
Vic went out of town, so the kids and I had them again as leftovers on Monday.
During dinner, Aidan asked me how soon I could make them again.
‘Nuff said.
Here’s the recipe on Kate’s blog: Crowd-Pleasin’ Stroganoff Meatballs.
Bon Appetit!

I see you are still busy using paprika app. Did you get the app for the Mac that has came out, it would be good to have on desktop computer if you want to type one in or just for convenience, I haven’t decided if its worth the $20.00 ? I find it quiet hard to put recipes into the ipad if they are not paprika friendly. Have you got it ? If so what are your thoughts? Have a great day.
I ABSOLUTELY did, Leonie!! For non-paprika-friendly recipes, it truly is much easier to add them from the mac…and since I don’t buy cookbooks anymore, $20 is a small price to pay!
I was hit up by a scam artist this weekend. Blech. Guy (Nigel Coker – if you get an email from this person, DELETE IT) says he wants to buy prints, blah blah. Seemed innocent at first, so I email him back. He sends me his list of prints, along with the fact that he a) wants to pay by check, b) wants his own “shipper” to pick them up and mail them and c) needs my address and all contact info.
Oooooookkkkaaaaayyyyyy. Jackwagon.
This made me feel all icky, so how do I combat such icky feelings? CLEAN SOMETHING, of course! I was inspired by this post the other day on the Pioneer Woman’s blog about stocking the pantry, and realized mine needed an overhaul.
In my former existence, I relied on a LOT of jarred sauces and pre-made prep items. But now that I cook from scratch, I never (ever) use them. So it was time for them to go…making room for more pantry staples.
Before:

Too many jarred sauces, too many empty containers, messed up snack shelf (I have lots of kids riffling thru every day), not enough of what I really need. And way too many bottles of hot sauce because Vic didn’t know we had any and bought a few more. Oops.
Here’s what was in there:

After:

- Top Shelf: Marinades, sauces I’ll use, pastas, condiments.
- 2nd Shelf: Staples, like canned tomatoes, soups (yes, I do still use them sometimes!), vegetables, chilies, etc. It’s hard to tell, but I have a lot of room left on this shelf to add the things I need all the time.
- 3rd Shelf:Breakfast & breads (cereal, wraps, peanut butters, etc.). I’m out of cereal, hence the empty containers.
- 4th Shelf: Snacks & Grains. Pretzels, organic cookies, quinoa, whole grain rices, etc. I moved most of the storage containers, but left a few since I’m due for a snack re-stock!
Take THAT, scammer!!

LOVE your pantry. I have a odd shaped (but huge) pantry and never know how to stock/store things. Everything goes in there (including things I wish had other homes). I have some new ideas now on how to organize it and yes thank yo for the reminder we too are due for a ‘restock’, but I want to clear out all that we have right now first by cooking it up!
Bummer on the scammer, but woo hoo on the pantry clean up. I have a cupboard in my hallway that is my pantry and I cleaned it up this past fall and it is so nice to “know” what I have at a glance and what I “don’t need” (even better). Since I am in the country with 3 big boys, I can’t pop to the store, so my pantry really comes in handy. But especially when it is organized!!!!
Shannon – I found the more room I had, the more of a mess I made with it! LOL I do want to get mine nicely stocked for recipes, tho!
Berta – no surprise that yours is nicely organized!!
You had me at Jackwagon. <3
I too, find that the angrier I am, the fiercer I clean. I think it must be how I'm wired. The sight of a sparkling, shiny clean {{ insert item here }} makes me forget my anger and focus on the goodness.
Works for me! =)

Jennifer Henson - When I grew up in Michigan, the sight of the first robin always meant spring would soon be there. I love this photo-beautiful, as your photos always are. Thanks for taking me back in time.
Lisa - What a nice note Jennifer – thank you! Unfortunately for these poor robins, mother nature was playing a mean trick! But they did fill up on my pears!
